THE PRAGUE SPRING COMPETITION WINNERS OF THE FRENCH HORN CATEGORY ANNOUNCED!
The FRENCH HORN category reached its end today with the Finals taking place in Dvořák Hall at Rudolfinum in Prague. The three musicians have spent the whole Monday May 13th practicing for their final performances.
Throughout the evening, the audience could have heard the following pieces: Concerto for French Horn and String Orchestra Op. 65 by Othmar Schoeck and Morceau de Concert Op. 94 by Camille Saint-Saëns. Both pieces were performed in cooperation with the Pilsen Philharmonic conducted by Chuhei Iwasaki.
After having heard the three impeccable performances, the jury agreed on the following order:
1st Prize – Zhicheng Jin, China
2nd Prize – Nicolas Ramez, France
3rd Prize – Felipe Santos Freitas da Silva, Brazil
Alongside the laureate title, the jury also awarded an Honorary Mention to
Achille Fait, Italy
The following prizes were awarded:
Audience Prize donated by friends of Prague Spring – Zhicheng Jin
Czech Music Fund Foundation Prize for the best performance of works composed for the 2024 Prague Spring IMC – Máté Harangózo, Hungary
Czech Radio Prize a free studio recording and presentation of the best laureate to be broadcasted by Czech Radio – Zhicheng Jin
Prize of the City of Prague for the most successful laureate – Zhicheng Jin
Bärenreiter Prize for the most successful laureate – Zhicheng Jin
The winner of the first prize Zhicheng Jin from China, received an invitation to perform at the 80th annual Prague Spring International Music Festival in 2025.
