Prague Spring brings to the Czech Republic one of the world’s most famous conductors, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, music director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Orchestre Métropolitain in Montreal, and a five-time Grammy Award winner. He will perform with his beloved Chamber Orchestra of Europe at a special Advent concert of the Prague Spring on Thursday, December 4, in the magnificent Spanish Hall of Prague Castle.

The ever-smiling Canadian, who wanted to be pope as a child, names his cats after opera characters (Pelléas, Mélisande, and Rodolfo) and is nicknamed Mighty Mouse by Joyce DiDonato for his athletic but petite figure, will present three works by the German Romantic composer Johannes Brahms in Prague: Tragic Overture Op. 81, Symphony No. 1 in C minor Op. 68, and Double Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra in A minor Op. 102, in which German violinist Veronika Eberle will play her 1693 Stradivarius and French cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras will play his 1707 “Kaiser” Stradivarius.
