FRENCH HORN: Finalists announced!

Today, the Round II of the FRENCH HORN category have taken place at the National House of Vinorady, where 12 candidates aimed to get to the Finals. The Finals take place on May 14 in Dvořák Hall at Rudolfinum.

 

The jurors as well the visitors could listen to the 30 minutes long reperoire and hear pieces such as Concertos by Georg Phillip Telemann, Christoph Foerster and Johann Joachim Quantz and Sonata by Paul Hindemith. There was also a premiere of the work composed for the IMC Prague Spring 2018 called Virtuosino per corno e pianoforte by Jiří Gemrot.

 

After long desicion making, members of the jury decided for 4 candidates, who will pass to the Finals. These candidates were announced during the speech of chairman of the jury and here are their names:

 

Paweł Cal

Alexandre Collard

Milena Viotti

Yun Zeng

 

Moreover, some of the candidates who did not pass to the Finals were awarded a Honorable Mention of the Jury. These are: Luis Duarte Dias Moreira and Cristiana Custodio both from Portugal. The Czech Music Fund Foundation Prize for the best performance of work composed for the IMC Prague Spring 2018 was given to Alexandre Collard from France.

 

The Finals are divided into two parts. First part starts at 4pm and the second one at 8pm.

 

In the afternoon programme, we will hear these candidates:

  1. Alexandre Collard (France)
  2. Paweł Cal (Poland)

 

In the evening we will see performances of these participants:

  1. Zeng Yun (China)
  2. Milena Viotti (Switzerland)
