The BASSOON category has found its finalists
And we´re off to the finals!
All throughout today, ROUND II of the BASSOON category took place in the Martinu Hall, where 12 bassoonists competed for a place in the finals. We have heard compositions from Camille Saint-Saëns: Sonata for Bassoon and Piano Op. 168, Alexandre Tansman: Sonatina for Bassoon and Piano, Otmar Nusio: Variation on an Arietta by Pergolosi for Bassoon and Piano, Marcel Bitsch: Concertino for Bassoon and Piano. Also, for the first time, we were able to hear the composition Mono-Poly by Petr Wajsar composed for the IMC Prague Spring 2020. Once the contestatnts were finished, the jury went to debate about who should be given the chance to perform in the finals.
The decision wasn´t easy, however there can be only 3 players advancing. The jury decided they are the following:
Minju Kim (1999), Republic of Korea
Minju Kim (1996), Republic of Korea
Kenichi Furuya, Japan
Alongside with the finalists the jury also rewarded 2 contestants with honorable mentions:
Clara Manaud, France
Juan Ruíz Bandoux, Venezuela
