We know the winners!
Today´s evening was in the spirit of the VIOLA Finals. We welcomed the finalists in the Dvořák hall of the Prague Rudolfinum. The contestants were practicing their performances for the Finals from the morning and at 6 PM their tunes filled the Dvořák’s Hall for the first time.
We could have heard Sonata for Viola Solo composed by György Ligeti and Rhapsody-Concerto for Viola and Orchestra by Bohuslav Martinů.
The finalists did great and and the jury took long to decide, but there can only be one winner.
The prizes were awarded as follows:
1st prize – Sào Soulez Larivière, France
2nd prize – Kyungsik Shin, Republic of Korea
Czech Music Fund Foundation Prize for the best performance of works composed for the 2023 Prague Spring IMC – Eric Seohyun Moon, Republic of Korea
Czech Radio Prize – Sào Soulez Larivière, France
Prize of the City of Prague for the most successful laureate – Sào Soulez Larivière, France
Bärenreiter Prize for the most successful laureate – Sào Soulez Larivière, France
Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Prize for the best performance of the work by Bohuslav Martinů – Larivière, France
Viktor Kalabis and Zuzana Růžičková Prize for the most successful laureate – Sào Soulez Larivière, France
GEWA Music Prize for the most successful laureate – Sào Soulez Larivière, France and Kyungsik Shin, Republic of Korea
The winner of the first prize, Sào Soulez Larivière, France, received an invitation to perform at the 79th edition of International Music Festival in 2024.
