On May 6 at 6 PM, the OBOE category of the prestigious 76th Prague Spring International Music Competition officially opened at the Vzlet Cultural Center. This marks the fourteenth time the oboe has featured in the competition’s storied history.
This year, 45 promising young oboists from 18 countries have arrived in Prague to compete for top prizes over the coming week. Their performances will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of seven international jurors, led by Nancy Ambrose King. The jury also includes Clara Dent-Bogányi, Johannes Grosso, Kalev Kuljus, Jan Souček, Fabien Thouand, and Vilém Veverka.
In the Round I, held on May 7 and 8, contestants will perform selected works by Georg Philipp Telemann and Robert Schumann.
