FRENCH HORN – We know who will be in the FINALS

We are glad to announce that the jury has selected the names of the finalists of the FRENCH HORN category! Today in the Majakovskij Hall, located in the National House of Vinohrady, we had a chance to hear wonderful solo performances by thirteen young and promising French horn players, who competed for a place in the FINALS.

Many thanks to all the pianists who worked with the contestants and supported them. Namely to the official accompanists Andrea Mottlová, Jana Goliášová and Stanislav Gallin and other accompanying pianists, which were: Alena Grešlová, Eva Macková, Akiko Nikami, Cora Brückner-Irse, Ying-Han Li and Guillaume Sigier.

All the performances were excellent, however, the possibility of qualifying for the FINALS is only reserved for the top 3 musicians. After a long discussion, the jury agreed on the following finalists:

Jin Zhicheng (China)

Ramez Nicolas (France)

Santos Freitas da Silva Felipe (Brazil)

The jury has also decided to award Honorary Mention to:

Achille Fait (Italy)

During Round II, listeners could enjoy listening to Kryštof Marek’s composition “Three Prague Escapes” for the first time, which he composed for the MHS Prague Spring 2024. The Czech Music Foundation is awarding a special prize for the best interpretation of this composition, which was won by

Harangozó Máté (Hungary)

You are kindly invited to attend the FINALS at the Dvořák Hall in Rudolfinum, where the performances will take place on the 13th May from 6 pm. The tickets will be available on spot or via the official site.
