Tsukushi Sasaki from Japan won the 1st prize!

Today´s evening was in the spirit of the VIOLIN Finals. We welcomed the finalists in the Dvořák Hall of the Prague Rudolfinum. The contestants were practicing their performances for the Finals from the morning and at 6 PM their tunes filled the Dvořák Hall for the first time.

We could have heard Concerto in D major Op. 61 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Concerto in D major Op. 77 by Johannes Brahms a Concerto in D minor Op. 47 by Jean Sibelius. The finalist were accompanied by Prague Philharmonia conducted by Marek Šedivý. Lastly, each finalist finished their Finals performance with an encore of their own choice with maximum length of 4 minutes.

The finalists did great and the jury took long to decide, but there can only be one winner. 

The prizes were awarded as follows: 

1st prize Tsukushi Sasaki, Japonsko

2nd prize – Jan Novák, Česká republika

3rd prize – Marie-Astrid Hulot, Francie

Alongside the laureate title, the jury also awarded an Honorary Mention to

Ilva Eigus, Switzerland

Oleg Podgorný Prize for the most successful youngest Czech participant in the entire competition – Jan Novák

Czech Centres Prize a concert and stay at one of the Czech Centres in Europe for the best Czech participant in the entire competition – Jan Novák

Gideon Klein Foundation Prize for the most successful Czech participant in the entire competition – Jan Novák

Mercedes Benz Prize for the most successful Czech participant in the entire competition (must have participated at least in the finals or have earned an Honourable Mention) – Jan Novák

The winner of the first prize, Tsukushi Sasaki from Japan, received an invitation to perform at the 80th annual Prague Spring International Music Festival in 2025.
