Laureates of the String Quartet competition
Today’s was accompanied by the tunes of Leoš Janáček’s and Ludwig van Beethoven’s compositions. The contestants were practising from the morning their performances for the Finals. At 6 PM their tunes filled the Dvořák’s Hall for the first time. The finalists did great and the deciding was not easy for the jury, but there can be only one winner.
The prizes were awarded as follows:
1st prize – Arete String Quartet from the Republic of Korea
2nd prize – was not awarded
3rd prize ex aequo – Selini Quartet from Austria and Kukal Quartet from the Czech Republic
The Viktor Kalabis and Zuzana Růžičková Prize to the most successful laureate was awarded to Arete String Quartet.
The prize of the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation was awarded to Arete String Quartet.
Today were also awarded the following prizes: Prize of the city of Pragueto the most successful laureate, the Czech Music Fund Foundation Prize for the best performance of the piece commissioned by Slavomír Hořínka for the IMC Prague Spring, the Gewa Music Prize to the most successful quartet. All the before mentioned prizes were awarded to the wining ensemble Arete String Quartet.
The Oleg Podgorný Prize awarded by the Artist´s Life Foundation to Eliška Kukalová as the youngest most successful czech participant of the competition.
