How was the opening of the Prague Spring and what to look forward to next?
Did you watch our opening concert yesterday, whether in the concert hall, on your screens, or outdoors at the ČEZ Open Air? You can relive the thrilling atmosphere of the opening ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the Prague Spring in photos on our website and social networks, and in the last episode of Echo of the Prague Spring. Follow us on our website, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube for daily news and reports from the festival.
What can you look forward to in the coming days of the festival, for which there are still tickets available? Today, the three best oboists will compete in the Prague Spring Competition, accompanied by the Prague Philharmonia at the Rudolfinum. Who will take the top prize? This week, on three nights at the Rudolfinum, this year’s Festival Artist in Residence, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, will be with us. On Friday, she will perform alongside Camerata Bern in a multimedia programme called Time and Eternity, taking us through music from six centuries. On Saturday, she will dress as Pierrot and perform alongside a groundbreaking piece by Arnold Schoenberg. She and her chamber ensemble will play a variety of pieces that illustrate the “Belle Époque” of musical discovery in the first half of 20th century with works by Stravinsky, Bartók and Milhaud. Finally, on Sunday, she will bring her series to a close with a significant moment for Czech music, paying tribute to the Czech composer Luboš Fišer alongside Beethoven’s sonatas. This concert is “the closest to my heart of all my performances at the Prague Spring Festival”, as “PatKop” has revealed.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts!
