String Quartet Competition opened, finalists of the Piano category announced!
And off to the finals!
During today’s afternoon the semifinals in the category PIANO took place in the St. Lawrence Church under the Petřín Hill. The contestants went from performing solo to a harmonic performance with the Zemlinsky Quartet. To some of the participants this change brought great success, but unfortunately only three of the best ones could advance to the Finals. Those are:
Lee Dongha from Republic of Korea
Lee Jaeyoung from Republic of Korea
Zukal Matouš from Czech Republic
The jury also awarded Vojtěch Trubač (Czech Republic) with the Honorable Mention.
The Finals of PIANO category takes place on 14 May at 6 PM in Dvořák’s Hall in Rudolfinum. The livestream of the finals can be found HERE.

Today we also welcomed the finalists of the STRING QUARTET category, who advanced through the first two rounds which were held online. The contestants came from Austria, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Korea. The finalists are: Arete String Quartet, Kukal Quartet and Selini Quartet.
The opening ceremony took place in the Academy of Music with the participation of four jurors. The contestants also chose the order in which they will be playing by lottery. The finals of the STRING QUARTET will take place on Thursday the 13th from 6 PM in the wonderful Dvorak’s Hall of the Prague Rudolfinum. Everything will be broadcasted HERE.
