Ten highlights not to miss at the Prague Spring Festival

You didn’t get any tickets for the opening concert (12.5.) with the Berliner Philharmoniker headed by their Chief Conductor, Kirill Petrenko? Come and watch the live broadcast on the big screen in the park in Prague’s Kampa. A rich accompanying programme awaits visitors from the afternoon. Picnic blankets with you!

Come and see the final evenings of the Prague Spring Competition in horn (13 May) and violin (14 May) and experience the adrenaline of an evening that can, without exaggeration, decide the career of a young artist.

On 16 May at the Rudolfinum, listen to Schumann’s famous song cycle for soprano and piano, Woman’s love and life, combined with songs by Scandinavian composers in a uniquely conceived programme by soprano singer Miah Persson, who has been invited to the MET and Salzburg.

At the concert on 17 May at the Rudolfinum you will hear music by Italian masters of the Renaissance and Baroque performed by the icon of historically informed interpretation, Phillip Herreweghe with the Collegio Vocale Gent. The energetic soloists and chamber players of the Z.E.N. Trio, who, in their own words, are definitely not in a zen-like state on stage, will play a concert of works by Brahms and Dvořák at the Rudolfinum on 25 May.

On 27 May, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the baton of Mikko Franck will perform works by the musical impressionist Maurice Ravel at the Rudolfinum. And the world premiere of Kryštof Mařatka‘s violin concerto inspired by prehistoric cave paintings, performed by violinist Amaury Coeytaux, conducted by the composer himself.

You can hear the unheard of at concerts that go beyond the ordinary listening experience, whether it is a performance of G. F. Haas’ 11,000 Strings for 50 Pianos on 2.6. or the site-specific project Pianofonia by Michal Rataj and Jan Trojan at the National Technical Museum for piano and its parts, or immerse yourself in the latest new music for a whole weekend at the Prague Offspring on 31 May and 1 June at DOX.
